Unedited, Including the Ones Where We Sold Nothing
A fair number of these describe a session that ended without a purchase. We leave those in deliberately, because they describe the business accurately.
I came in convinced I needed new irons and left having spent forty-four dollars on a lie bend across the set. Six weeks later I am hitting the same clubs at the flag instead of twenty feet right of it. They talked themselves out of a sale in about ten minutes.
Dwight spent longer explaining why my old driver shaft was wrong than most shops spend on an entire fitting. We kept the head, changed the shaft, and my dispersion tightened enough that I stopped aiming at the left rough.
The card is what sold me. I travelled to Denver in the autumn, walked into a shop with my sheet, and they matched my build without a single question. Nobody had ever given me anything like it before.
I had been playing a lob wedge with almost no bounce because someone told me that is what better players use. Marisol sprayed the sole, made me hit fifteen off the grass, and showed me a picture of what my own club was doing. Impossible to argue with.
My gaps at the top of the bag were a mess after moving here from Houston. It turned out the altitude had squashed three clubs into two. They fixed it with a loft change and a hybrid, and it cost less than one new iron.
Perry re-gripped my whole set while I waited and pointed out that two of my irons were a full degree apart on lie. He fixed those too, and charged me for the bends rather than making it a whole event.
What I appreciated was being told my putter was fine and I just needed it two inches shorter with the lie corrected. That took twenty minutes and I have holed more from six feet since than in the previous two seasons.
Anneliese called me the morning of my appointment to say the grass strip was soaked and offered to move it a week rather than fit me indoors. I have never had a business give up a booked slot for a better result.
